A few days ago, I posted about SaskTel passing on our request for leftover tech to help support youth mental health initiatives up north. Honestly, it was a frustrating reminder of how much red tape is out there.
But I also said: If they won't help, we'll do it ourselves. And you guys took that literally. The grassroots response over the last few days has been absolutely unbelievable. We are gearing up to head to Sandy Bay shortly, and thanks to the community, we are coming in loaded with gear.
Here is what has come in just this week:
The PACU Crew: The incredible staff and nurses I work alongside at the Regina General PACU stepped up massively, donating a ton of much-needed shoes and bags of clothing.
Cameras: We’ve had actual cameras donated by individuals to keep the Therapeutic Photography club armed, shooting, and giving these kids a creative outlet.
Pickleball Gear: A massive shoutout to Ranch Ehrlo, who just donated 20 pickleball rackets. That northern league I’ve been talking about is officially happening.
When a Crown corporation said no, everyday people and local organizations didn't hesitate to say yes. This is what real community support looks like.
To everyone who donated gear, shoes, clothes, and rackets: thank you. You are directly impacting northern youth, and we can't wait to put this gear to work in Sandy Bay.
