Dre Erwin
CBC features Cheryl West’s drone photography and mental health journey, with insights from Dre Erwin and the Pinehouse Photography Club.
A new CBC Saskatchewan story highlights how Cheryl West of Grenfell has found connection and support for her mental health through drone photography. Cheryl and her husband Kirk Lee share videos of rural Saskatchewan, revealing the beauty of familiar places from a different perspective.
I was glad to contribute my perspective to the story as a photographer, primary care nurse and founder of the Pinehouse Photography Club. Working with youth in northern Saskatchewan has shown me how photography can help people slow down, focus on what’s around them and connect with others.
What I like most about Cheryl’s experience is that you don’t need a fancy camera or a photography club to begin. Sometimes a phone, a walk and the willingness to notice something beautiful are enough to get started.
