When I launched my photography work, the goal was always to find beauty in the overlooked and to provide a therapeutic lens for the North. Today, one of my drone images of Pelican Narrows was featured by the national press.
As a photographer, you hope your work reaches a wide audience. But as a healthcare provider, seeing your art paired with a story of community pain is a sobering experience. It changes the way you look at the frame.
It reinforces why I do this. We don’t just take photos to document facts; we take them to preserve the dignity of a place. The North is vast, resilient, and beautiful—even when the headlines are dark. My focus remains on using the camera as a tool for healing, ensuring that the 'soul' of our communities isn't lost in the noise of a news cycle.
