I stood out there for hours, completely alone for miles with just my camera and tripod. The silence was absolute. The aurora borealis was bright enough to break through the skiffs of drifting snow, creating a ghost-like mist over the lake. If you look closely at the foreground, the image is so sharp you can see the stars reflecting off the individual patches of ice and snow.
