The Pinehouse Corona (Minus Fifty)

The Pinehouse Corona (Minus Fifty)

SKU: AUR-PH-CORONA-GRN

The Story Behind the Shot This is the view from the frozen surface of Pinehouse Lake, Saskatchewan, on a night when the temperature hit -50°C.

I was standing alone on the ice, miles from the nearest town lights, looking straight up at the zenith of the sky. This phenomenon is known as an "Aurora Corona"—where the magnetic field lines guide the solar particles directly overhead, creating a tunnel-like explosion of light.

My friend Jonah (co-founder of the Pinehouse Photography Club) was working security in town that night. We were miles apart, both braving the extreme freeze, watching this exact same burst of green and teal energy dance above us.

About This Digital Download This listing is for the full-resolution Master File. At 8500 x 5500 pixels (approx. 47 Megapixels), this file captures every grain of starlight and the subtle gradients of the aurora. It is designed for those who want to print big.

File Details:

  • Resolution: 8500 x 5500 pixels

  • Format: High-Quality JPEG

  • Aspect Ratio: 3:2 (Standard Full Frame)

Why Buy the High-Res File? Because this image is abstract and geometric, it works incredibly well as a large statement piece in modern living rooms or offices. With this file size, you can print:

  • Over the Couch: Up to 60" wide on Canvas or HD Metal with zero loss in quality.

  • Gallery Standard: Up to 30" x 20" at pure 300 DPI (magazine sharpness).
