The Survivor: Tuxford Barn (2015)
A symbol of standing your ground when the sky turns dark.
The Story Behind the Lens: This isn't just a photo of a barn; it is the image that started my journey. In 2015, I picked up a camera that had been sitting on my shelf for years, looking for a creative outlet. I drove out to Tuxford, Saskatchewan, on what began as a hot, clear summer day, drawn to this solitary, weathered barn.
Nature had other plans. The weather turned violently, and I soon found myself caught in the middle of a severe thunderstorm that spawned a tornado. I was terrified. It was a "fear for your life" moment where the only option was to endure.
The Meaning: Both the barn and I survived that day. This image captures the contrast between the vibrant energy of life (the green grass) and the overwhelming darkness of the challenge (the storm clouds). It serves as a powerful reminder: We can get through anything.
If you are going through a storm in your own life, let this print be your reminder on the wall. Don't run away. Stand your ground. The storm will pass, but you will remain.
