Saskatchewan Christmas Gifts: Northern Lights Prints and a Children's Book
Some gifts mean more because they remind us of somewhere—or someone. A Saskatchewan sky, a familiar landscape, or a story shared with a child can do that. If you’re looking for a Christmas gift with a connection to the North, here are a few ways to start.

For someone who misses Saskatchewan
Choose a photograph that feels like home. It might be a bright aurora, a quiet lake or an open prairie sky. Start with the person receiving it: where would they display it, and which scene would they want to see every day?
My digital downloads supply a photograph as a file rather than a finished product. A frame, canvas and printing are separate purchases. Check the individual listing for file dimensions, print suggestions and permitted uses before buying.
Three photographs to explore
Red and green northern lights above autumn trees make this vertical photograph an option to explore for a narrow wall or a framed display.

Green aurora, a blue-purple sky and power lines bring a familiar everyday landmark into a night-sky scene. Its listing includes a 7,592 × 5,061-pixel JPEG and suggested 3:2 print sizes.
Compare a few scenes before choosing. The photograph that means something to your person is a better starting point than simply picking the brightest colours.
A little planning makes a better print
Choose your frame or canvas size before ordering the print. Ask the printer whether the image will need cropping; a square canvas and a wide landscape photograph have different shapes. For canvas, check whether the edges wrap around the frame so important parts of the photograph stay visible.
Use the purchased full-resolution file, not a screenshot or a social-media preview. Ask the printer to check it at your intended size and allow time for production. A download avoids shipping a file, but a physical gift still takes time to make.
What about a calendar, mug or T-shirt?
Those can be personal ways to use a meaningful photograph, but a digital download does not automatically include permission for every product. My current listings have personal-use conditions. Contact me before buying for a gift project, calendar or clothing so we can confirm the intended use and a suitable file. Resale, commercial merchandise and sharing the downloaded file are not included in the standard personal-use terms.
A northern-lights story for a child
For children ages 4–8, When the Sky Danced: Book One of Under the Northern Lights offers a different way to bring the northern sky into Christmas. Kai’s journey is inspired by northern Saskatchewan, curiosity and finding beauty around us.

The book page also has a free My Little Beauty Hunt activity. Read together, then invite the child to notice a colour, pattern or small detail and draw it. No camera or email sign-up is needed for the activity.
Keep the gift personal
A short note can be part of the gift: why you chose that sky, what the place means to you, or why you thought of the person. That connection is what I’d want someone to take away from my photographs and stories.
